Kristen Bell is sneaking out of The Good Place to visit the land of animation again.

The time, the Frozen alum will lend her voice to Family Guy, playing a possible love interest for Brian, EW has learned exclusively.

In an episode of the animated Fox comedy slated to air in November, the Griffin canine meets her character, Martha (as seen below), when he gets a job at a suicide prevention hotline. “Brian falls for his officemate, Martha — a young woman trying to make her way in the big city,” says Family Guy executive producer Rich Appel. “She comes complete with her own theme song, which, like all great sitcom theme songs, literally tells you everything you need to know about her.” He adds: “Kristen Bell’s voice alone could sell anything.” [Source]

The Good Place has been blessed with a heavenly Season 2 launching pad.

NBC announced Monday that the Kristen Bell-Ted Danson comedy will kick off its second season a week early — on Wednesday, Sept, 20 at 10/9c, with a special one-hour episode immediately following the (traditionally) highly-rated two-hour season finale of America’s Got Talent. The Good Place will then settle into its regular Thursday-at-8:30 perch after Superstore on Sept. 2 [Source]

NBC’s “The Good Place,” the critically beloved otherworldly comedy from executive producer and creator Michael Schur, has been renewed for a full-season order of 13 episodes.

The announcement was made by Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment.

“Mike Schur has always had one of the most fertile and imaginative minds in comedy, but what he brought us with the first season of ‘The Good Place’ was just extraordinary,” Salke said. “We absolutely can’t wait to see where these characters go, literally, in season two. A big thank you to Mike, the writers and cast for delivering a series in which we all take such enormous pride.”

With the Gilmore Girls revival behind us, it’s time to reopen our investigation into a second Veronica Mars reunion project.

Over the summer, leading lady Kristen Bell confirmed our initial scoop that she and series creator Rob Thomas are eyeing a limited-series format vs. a fan-funded feature film this time around, telling me at Comic-Con, “We are definitely striving to do it again… And this time around we’re not going to ask the audience to pony up for anything.”

At the Television Critics Association winter press tour last week, Thomas — who was promoting iZombie Season 3 — revealed that the potential continuation would consist of a half-dozen hour-long episodes. “Kristen and I both want to figure out some way we could do a six-episode Veronica Mars mystery,” he shared. “If I were a betting man, I bet that it will happen. I just don’t know when it will be.” [Source]

I’ve updated some additional stills and high quality logoless screeencaptures of Kristen in the season finale of The Good Place that aired last week. We still have no news about a second season but all the signs (ratings + NBC’s approval) are positively pointing to a renewal, so we shall remain positive.

NBC’s freshman comedy is serving up a good old-fashioned battle between good and evil, as Michael fights to keep Eleanor away from Trevor and the Bad Place. Creator Michael Schur hints that the next few episodes are “about the Good Place crew trying desperately to figure out any kind of argument they can make about why Eleanor should stay before this mysterious ‘Shawn’ shows up to lay down a ruling.” (“Shawn” being the perfect name for an all-knowing demigod, of course.) Along with fighting for her eternal soul, Eleanor finds herself in the middle of what Schur calls “the weirdest love triangle of all time,” as the real Eleanor settles into the Good Place — and takes the old Eleanor’s place as Chidi’s soulmate. Plus, look for the Siri-like assistant Janet to come back online (and in service of an unexpected twist). As Schur says, “She’s re-uploading all of the knowledge of the universe, and that takes a little while.”
